Brian Inglis

THIS IS ME

I am a very experienced musician having had a long career in the music business, playing in bands large and small from pop to swing and jazz. These days I tend to write more than perform, but I still accept gigs.

I first started in the music business after leaving school and like most others ran my music interests alongside a ‘Proper Job’ playing in various bands. As time went by I joined a close harmony / cabaret band called 'Winters Tale.'

This led to appearances on ITV's very popular show of the time, 'New Faces' and following their appearance had some success  appearing   on another TV show of the time, ‘Summer Time Special’ and touring the country, playing the Mecca / Top Rank and college circuits. The band worked extensively in major London hotels and enjoyed some great summer seasons in the South West and also toured with guitarist Duane Eddy.

I have been fortunate enough to work with artists such as  Bernie Marsden (White Snake), Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Ian Paice (Deep   Purple), Charlie McKraken (ex-Taste), Duane Eddy, The Sweet, Supertramp, Frankie Vaughn, Morecombe and Wise, Des   O'Connor, Felix Bowness (Hi De Hi), Little and Large, The Baron Knights and many more.

What did I do after that?

By the early 1990's I had started to take songwriting seriously and started to work with songwriters within the UK, USA and Canada. To support the songwriting I set up Mystic Recording Studios later known as M2S (Mystic Music Support) providing business support  management consultancy to the music industry and artists. I have recorded and produced five albums and an EP, a number of singles, plus two meditation CDs and written a musical based on H G Wells' 'Time Machine.'

And then what?

I wrote ‘A Career in Music?’ it is a no holes barred manual of how you might get into the music business and how to avoid being ripped off, used and abused and all the other pooh traps one might encounter. Contact me to find out more.

And there’s more

Like an itch that needed to be scratched I returned to performing in the early noughties, experimenting with backing tracks for covers, but I found that they were too limiting and decided that I did not want to be a human jukebox stood in some corner of a pub. So I developed  a great eclectic mix of songs some constructed with the use of a loop station in real time to just me and my guitar.

And now what?

Now as a solo artist I can create a full band sound complete with vocal harmonies. I play an eclectic mix of covers and my own material thus providing that little bit extra and different. I do use  some backing tracks for my own material and covers, or I can perform acoustic sets which gives me greater flexibility and the ability to put together a variety of sets from Acoustic Blues / Country Blues to Pop to R&B and Soul to Country Rock and Americana. In short I can cater for a wide range of occasions.

I am a staunch believer in workers rights and especially musicians’ rights so please do not ask me to perform for free.
